Case study - Scientific Account Lead
I started my career as a medical writer after completing my PhD and spent time working on a wide range of activities and therapy areas. As I progressed from leading individual projects through to a junior account lead role, I found that although I enjoyed content development and review, I got even more satisfaction from building good relationships with my clients and steering difficult projects through to completion. I also discovered that I had a growing interest in the financial side of account management.
No two days are the same as a Scientific Account Lead at Aspire. While a major focus of my role is the financial health of my accounts, I’m also involved in a wide range of other activities at the account level including resourcing, process management and optimisation, maintaining key documents such as publication plans, and building and maintaining a collaborative relationship with clients. I’m also involved in certain individual projects that might require a greater level of project management or strategic input, such as meetings and workshops. The years I spent working as a medical writer mean that I feel comfortable discussing every aspect of delivery with our clients, whether it’s a query about GPP, a discussion on timelines, or just trying to decide the most efficient way to get something done.
